Christmas with Friends
i love christmas. it is my favorite time of year. i thought that this year would be very difficult as my kids are with their father, my family lives 3000 miles away, and most of my friends are out of town. i was quite wrong. my friend emma invited me to christmas dinner with her and her family and i had a wonderful time. her family is very kind and wonderfully funny. thank you so much, emma, for helping to make my christmas merry :-).
on a side note…i noticed something today. when moving contacts and old sms’s from my old phone to my new one, i noticed how my circle of friends has grown, evolved, and changed in the last year. last year i had just divorced and had contact primarily with only one other person. this year, my sms inbox is full of a mixture of different people. having moved around so much as a child, i never really took the time to have an eclectic mixture of friends. i really like the people i call my friends now. they are caring, talented individuals who live passionately. it can be fun to browse old emails and sms’s, reflecting how my life has changed, how people have come in and out, leaving electronic footprints…just as precious to me as the old letters i have wrapped in pink ribbons, locked lovingly away in a secret box.
