playing catch-up
last week i locked myself in my office and read and read and read and read. it was great! i have said earlier that blogging regularly has changed the way i read. i tend to read in short bursts and found it much more difficult to concentrate. i had to re-learn the art of academic reading (which is obviously different than pleasure reading or blog reading). i was able to do that last week. i got out my trusty highlighter, brandished my favorite pen and delved into theories of variationist sociolinguistics. and i had my seminar, which went ok. Lilia skyped in and gave some great feedback. she is one of those people who asks questions that make you really think and that tend to get at the heart of the matter! thanks, L!
i was also quite busy for personal reasons last week…ones that i can share at a later time :-P.
and now, for the next day or two i need to play catch-up. i have tried and tried to be a good multi-tasker. i know that the ‘digital native’ must have this skill, but i tend to wrap up in one or two things and let others fall to the side. today and tomorrow i am going to read all those emails that were not urgent, reply to the ones that were and write some long overdue thank-you notes. do you also play catch up, or has your digital life melded seamlessly into your analog?
