reaching out, part 2

Sep 29th, 2006 by | 2

Last night I spent hours and hours finishing a movie that represents that department of modern languages, and i am happy with the result. i think that it needs a bit more work, but that it serves its purpose now. and even as excited as i am to be meeting all these students today (ca 150 last i heard), i am even more excited about the projects we have in store for them! we have the digital stations that i mentioned earlier, but we are also going to do a poetry corner. i have brought paper and scissors and markers and crayons and we are going to get very un-digital and creative with conceptual poetry. SO excited!

i hope that i can show the students that our department is creative and full of possibilities. (or as the movie states, The Department of Modern Languages is about people, projects, and possibilities). but i need to make sure that i do not portray the department as a new media department. we have traditional humanities and we have digital humanities and it is the mix of interests that make our department such a lovely place to work!

Valentine's hope

(a little conceptual poetry for you :-P)

(did *you* know that horses and roosters sound very different in swedish, english and finnish?) [...]
